<\/span>Preamble<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

\u00a0We, the Democratic Ward Committee of Ward 12, in common purpose with the principles stated within the National and State Democratic Party charters, are united in seeking individual and political freedoms and social and economic justice for our communities.<\/p>\n

We affirm that we can best attain these goals through a strong, cohesive Party and Ward Committee\u2014honest, open, and accessible to all.<\/p>\n

The Democratic Party and this Ward Committee demand responsibility and accountability from Ward Committee members, candidates, and officials using its name. It shall be a democratic Ward Committee with which all social, economic, ethnic, and geographic groups can gather to clarify issues, affect public policies, and implement systems of equal opportunity regardless of race, national origin, creed, gender, age, or sexual orientation.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

<\/span>Mission Statement<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

The Historic Roxbury Ward 12 Democratic Committee\u2019s mission is to improve the quality of life for residents of our community by helping to create an informed, engaged, and active constituency that uses the democratic process to affect positive change.<\/p>\n

To accomplish this goal, Ward 12 educates residents about the electoral process and how it connects to everyday issues; vets candidates for elected office and holds them accountable to the Democratic Party and the constituents of Ward 12; works to increase voter participation in all elections; promotes legislation that increases access to voting; and sends delegates to the Massachusetts Democratic Convention to represent our community.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

<\/span>Article I – Defintions<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Agenda:<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>The order of business for Ward Committee meetings
Associate Member:<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>An individual appointed by a majority vote of voting members.
Caucus:<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>A gathering of enrolled Democrats called by the Ward Committee.
Committee:<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>When capitalized, refers to the Ward Committee of voting members.
Demographics:<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>Includes age, disability, ethnicity, income, race, gender, and sexual orientation.
Endorsement:<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>Approval of a candidate or ballot initiative.
Emeritus Membership:<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>A member who has served five elected terms.
Forum:<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>A public meeting for candidates or ward issues
Meeting:<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>A gathering of members, associate members, or committees.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

<\/span>Article II – Membership<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Type<\/b>
\u2013 Members are elected at Presidential Primaries for four-year terms.
\u2013 Members who have served five elected terms may continue as voting members.
\u2013 The Committee may appoint Associate Members.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities<\/b>
\u2013 Participation in monthly meetings.
\u2013 Participation in at least one standing or ad hoc committee.
\u2013 Compliance with State Democratic Party Charter and Bylaws.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

<\/span>Article III – Associate Membership<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Eligibility<\/b>
\u2013 Attend at least three meetings within six months.
\u2013 Request appointment.
\u2013 Be recommended and approved by majority vote.<\/p>\n

Limitations<\/b>
\u2013 May not hold officer positions.
\u2013 May not vote on Committee matters.
\u2013 Must reapply biennially.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

<\/span>Article IV – Removal<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Members may lose membership due to party disaffiliation, relocation, or by a two-thirds vote for conduct inconsistent with Committee values.<\/p>\n

Members have the right to notice, response, and appeal as outlined in these bylaws.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

<\/span>Article V – Officers<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

Co-Chairs<\/b>
\u2013 Preside over meetings.
\u2013 Organize caucuses.
\u2013 Serve as party liaisons and spokespersons.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Treasurer<\/b>
\u2013 Maintain custody of funds.
\u2013 Disburse funds per Committee policy.
\u2013 Provide monthly reports.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

Secretary<\/b>
\n\u2013 Draft agendas and minutes.
\n\u2013 Maintain attendance records.
\n\u2013 Provide required reports.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

<\/span>Article VI – Committees<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

The Committee may establish standing and ad hoc committees to fulfill its work.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

<\/span>Article VII – General Operations<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

The Committee shall conduct regular meetings, establish quorum requirements, and follow parliamentary procedure as outlined in Robert\u2019s Rules of Order.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

<\/span>Article VIII – Endorsements<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

The Committee may endorse candidates or ballot initiatives by a two-thirds vote, following established procedures and notice requirements.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
